Working With Movies

A ChapterWork project contains a pointer to a digital movie and all settings necessary to generate a new movie with one or more embedded chapter tracks. A project does not contain the original movie, nor does it alter the original source.

Creating a New Project

To get started on a new project, do the following:

When you open a movie, ChapterWork analyzes the movie to find any existing chapter tracks and markers. These are displayed in the Chapter Table. If no existing chapter tracks are found, a new (empty) chapter track is created and placed in the Chapter Table

ChapterWork processes movies encoded in the formats supported by the QuickTime Player. For a complete list, see Apple’s Support page for QuickTime Player.

In some cases, ChapterWork may be able to open the movie, but unable to decode the media for an individual track. If this occurs for a visual track, a “?” will be displayed in the middle of the movie preview. ChapterWork will export this movie, however QuickTime Player 7 may be required for unconverted playback.

If a movie contains tracks with a media type other than the ones supported by the QuickTime Movie Modernizer, ChapterWork will not transfer those tracks to the output file.
