Installation of the Dtrt.NavBarWin
|
This short documentation helps you with the installation.
The dtrt.NavBarWin is a Navigation Bar for navigating multiple records of a dataset displayed in a windows form. It is built for use with the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0 or higher and the Visual Studio .NET IDE.
The installation routine is a standard VS NET deployment routine.
To install the dtrt.NavBarWin control you must have:
· Installed the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.0 or higher. (This setup does not contain the .NET Framework which must be installed on the development and target machines before this setup will install. Download details see below.)
· Approximately 3MB of free space on your hard disk
To download and install the current Microsoft .NET Framework point your browser to:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/technologyinfo/howtoget/default.aspx
or install the Framework through the Microsoft Windows Update site:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
or search in Microsoft’s download site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads
Note:
The
default installation directory is C:\Program
Files\Dtrt\NavBarWin\NetFrameworkXX\Bin where XX stands for a .NET Framework
version number (i.E. 11 for Framework 1.1).
If you want to use side-by-side execution of the dtrt.NavBarWin control in
different .NET Framework versions, we strongly recommend you install both
controls into the Global Assembly Cache GAC (installation instructions below;
prompt in step 6).
You can install both versions of the Dtrt.NavBarWin after one another, first for the Framework 1.0 then 1.1.
Installation instructions:
1. Copy the installation distributable to your hard disk.
2. Extract the files into a temporary directory of your choice.
3. Change to the temporary directory with the extracted files.
4. If there is an InstallationReadme.htm file, read these important installation notes.
5. Double click on Setup.exe.
6. Follow the instructions in the setup routine.
7. Read the ReadMeFirst notes in [Install Directory]\NetFramework for important last-minute information.
8. You may have to manually insert the NavBarWin control into your toolbox in the VS.NET IDE: select menu Tools then Customize Toolbox (VS.2002) or Add/Remove ToolBox Items (VS.2003), select .NET Framework Components tab; click Browse button; navigate to installation directory, select Dtrt.Windows.Forms.NavBarWin.dll, click Open, then OK.
You can repair an existing installation by running Setup.exe, selecting Repair Dtrt.NavBarWin and clicking the Finish button.
To delete, then reinstall the installation run Setup.exe, select Remove Dtrt.NavBarWin and click the Finish button. Then run Setup.exe again.
The AdditionalErrorInfo.xml file and the dtrtNbWinUserHelp.chm file are not deleted on removing the installation and not overwritten on repairing/reinstalling because you may have customized them. The license file too is not deleted or overwritten. We strongly advise you to make a save of your NavBarWin directory prior to repairing or reinstalling.
