自动机实验室是实验室的创建自动机。一个自动为界（实际上是平面坐标系统）移动相对于彼此以分层方式的系统。也就是说，每圈中的系统除了一个将沿一个其它循环在每一个时刻的圆周被滚动。自动机是数学曲线称为外摆线和hypocycloids的超集。自动机也可称为化合物摆线。用圆圈的这种系统相关联的运动可以被看作是电影或打印。
